Saving the Nagging and Arguing

I was looking to hire a new housekeeper when my husband said, "Why don't we save the money? You can make a list of chorese and we can make a cleaning schedule."

I made a list 5 pages long, but I never gave it to my husband. He's not a particularly neat guy and he really doesn't notice dirt and clutter around him. He's not the ideal candidate for house cleaner. I'm not a star homemaker either, but my standards are considerably higher than his.

I told him I wrote the list of 5 pages, but I wasn't going to give it to him. I was going to hire a housekeeper instead. I would rather spend my time enjoying my husband's company instead of nagging him or feeling overwhelmed by all the stuff I need to do. I don't think our marriage needs this unnecessary strain.

Not every household can afford a housekeeper, but if there is any indulgence you could afford that would save you from the nagging and arguing, what would it be? And if you can't afford it...there's no harm in dreaming a little, is there?

Good for you Alice! He might be thinking about the cost right now, but once that chore is handed off to a professional I'm sure he'll be so happy you insisted on hiring her/him.

Uh...a housekeeper ;)
Good on you girl! Dh never wants me to clean house on the weekends when he's home, he wants my attention. So whatever I can't do with babes in arms (like clean the shower) doesn't get gone. I don't think he cares. He only needs clean boxers and no gunk under his feet when he walks across the floor. Not too much to ask.
The weekly house cleaner is *definitely* on my list of goals for 2006!
