Heartbreak, Miracles, Heartbreak
Our small community's heart was broken earlier this spring with the news that a young woman (the daughter of a local pastor) had been killed in a terrible accident that claimed several college student's lives.
I remember reading about it and just feeling sick for the family. I don't know them personally but I can just imagine how hard it is for parents to lose a daughter so young, so soon out of school.
Today someone asked me if I had 'Heard about Whitney' and for a moment I thought they had to be speaking about someone else... so many weeks had passed since the accident, of course I had heard about it.
But they weren't asking if I knew she was dead... they were asking me if I had heard that she was alive!
What they told me was shocking, amazing, mind boggling...
There was another young woman in the accident who has been in a coma. The girls were similar in build, hair color & facial features. Somehow Whitney was identified as a Laura and Laura was buried as Whitney. And it wasn't known until Whitney woke up and began to say things that didn't make sense. Laura's family has blogged about it here.
Can you imagine the moment when this family realized the truth? Their heart had to shatter in a million peices.
Can you imagine the moment when Whitney's parents received the news? They had to feel as though they were being handed a miracle.
I am just blown away. I hope you'll join me in praying for both families.

Oh my goodness. I don't even know what to say.
Same here Carrie. I'm blown away.
That's amazing... I feel for both families and all the grief they've gone through.
OMG.. You just don't know what to say. You feel for the other family that that their child has been alive all this time and they haven't been by her side and then you feel for the family who thought they were by their girls side. WOW. It certainly leaves you speechless.
I don't know what to say either. I have so many emotions reading what you wrote and the family blog...I can only imagine they have so many more.
Here's a news story, it's already made it to Yahoo news...

Kelly when I watched our local news tonight and heard about this I just was blown away. I can't imagine what either one of these families must be going through. I can't even begin to imagine how I would handle something like this - finding out that someone I loved and had thought was dead was actually alive or vice versa. My heart just aches for these families. And my prayers are with both families now!
This is weird...I was just reading this post and now it is on our local news this morning!
My heart goes out to both families! I couldn't imagine being in either of their shoes.
