The Shift - Respect Me, I'm Your Elder
These days, there's been a shift. I seem to be one of the oldest around. I'm the oldest mama who posts on the blog here as I out-age Mila by 11 1/2 months (it's Mila's birthday today, by the way). And Carrie, well she may have a houseful of kids, but she's just a kid herself. :-)
I kind of like this shift to being the older one. Forget about the lines that are forming around my eyes...but I feel a different sense of respect from people whereever I go. I kind of like that.

Hey! I will be 31 this May! I'm not *that* young. ;)
I do get that a lot though. "You're too young to have all those kids!"
Answer.... "Umm... apparently not."
LOL
Yeah, people tell me they're surprised I have 2 kids and the oldest is 4. I didn't start until I was nearly 30!
I know exactly what you mean. When I took my son to the hospital this weekend I noticed that a lot of the nurses and even doctors looked so young... definitely younger than me.
And it really hit me that it must be awful to be in your 50s or 60s and have this really young person looking after you or telling you what to do!
I'm enjoying these years but it's very strange when it finally hits you that you're no longer a teenager or that young 20 something.
I definitely understand what my Mom always said, about thinking of yourself as young and wondering, who is this old lady in the mirror?
I actually ordered a pair of Frownies a couple days ago!
