Thank You, Thief

I haven't been able to get his story out of my mind since I read about it.

Matthew Ryan Hahn turning in a stolen digital camera and risking life in prison to save a child from being hurt any more.

If you are a parent you must read this story. It's unpleasant, but we have to face the fact that it could happen to any one of us.

I hope they let Matthew walk a free man and put John Robertson Aitken away for the rest of his life.

That's a tough one. I would think that finding that memory stick would be a turning point for Hahn, but it doesn't sound like it was. He's still committing crimes.

What I don't understand is why Aitken would report the safe stolen if he had so much to hide.

But regardless, what a horrible story and I'm glad that Hahn helped keep this creep off the streets.

God that's terrible. I don't think Hahn should get any time for the burglary... he did the right thing.

I don't understand why Aitken would report it either.

I probably won't be able to get this story out of my mind for a few days either... these things just don't make sense to me.

Just curious. You ladies realize that he's doing time for other crimes than robbing Aitken's house, right? He wasn't charged for that burglary, according to the article.

I read it carefully but must've misunderstood. I knew Hahn was doing time for other stuff (this was his third offense, meaning he's possibly facing life in prison).

Here is how I feel about it: Hahn is clearly a criminal and needs to pay for his crimes, but he obviously has conscience because he put himself in jeopardy to help this child that he didn't even know. There is some good in him. I hope he gets a lenient sentence. And I do hope it's a wake up call for him.

As far as the other guy, it sounds almost like he wanted to get caught. A camera? I mean really!

Wow! I know there is all sorts of this horrible stuff going on all around the world but it still doesn't make it any easier to read something like this! I totally agree with Carrie about Hahn needing to do time for his crimes but having a conscience & turning in the memory stick. That clearly shows that there is good in him!

And the other dude was a total idiot - a camera? Hello! But I'm glad that he did use a camera because it got him caught!
