Free Summer Kid Movies: Bring Your Nunchucks

OH.
MY.
GOSH.

Last Tuesday was the first time I took the kids out to the local theatre for the free summer kid movies. I should have had a clue when I pulled into the parking lot and had to pull around to the back of the building, where the whino pee and dumpsters reside, that things were going to get crazy.

I walked in with one on the hip and 3 in tow and saw about a dozen queues lined up in front of the refreshments. You see, if you bring a canned good you get free kiddie cokes and popcorn. I think every Mom and child in Paulding County were lined up in there. I found myself counting heads over and over so many times that I felt lightheaded.

Finally after about 30 minutes of standing in line we get our junk food and proceed to the theatre to find a seat, when we're informed that the first kid movie, Nanny McPhee, has filled 4 auditoriums to capacity, then the second choice, Curious George, had filled 4 to capacity and were we interested in Cheaper by the Dozen Two?

An employee told me that when they get to the theatre to open it at 8:30, parents are already lined up.... for a 10:00 showing.

Be scared. Be very scared. And bring your nunchucks next time.
