Nursing Moms License To Binge?

Not sure how I feel about this product: MilkScreen, which claims to be a simple test for the presence of alcohol in breastmilk. I'm all for the free market and capitalism, yadayada, but a couple things pop into my mind:

A glass of wine or a nice cold one with dinner isn't going to harm your nursing baby. Why is Mom overdrinking? Go out barhopping, then you wanna make sure it's safe to feed your infant? Hmm.

I'm sickened by the thought of this but I guess these are business people who have found a niche.

Question, tho...if a mom is indeed overdrinking and/or barhopping, will she be capable enough to even do the test or to read it correctly?

IMHO you shouldn't be nursing if you're drinking that much.

I personally don't think you should be drinking like that if you are nursing. Sure every mom needs their time out and too themselves but if it's that big of an issue then don't breastfeed, because obviously if mom is overdrinking or bar hopping then she doesn't have her child's best interest at heart anyway right?

When my youngest was very colicky during nursing my midwife suggested I drink half a guiness to calm him down plus up my iron content.

I don't like the idea of drinking during nursing but the occasional glass of wine doesn't do any harm. I definitely don't like this product because if you need it, it means you're drinking too much.

Yeah - why are you even drinking enough to have to use a product like that?
