When was the last time you went on an adventure?

"It is only in adventure that people succeed in knowing themselves--in finding themselves." (Andre Gide, 1924)

I feel as though my "new" life in general is a bit of an adventure. By "new" I mean a single mom of two toddlers trying to figure things out--emotionally and financially mostly.

Tomorrow is day 2 of my current adventure/challenge. I am teaching ESL this summer for three weeks to international kids from Korea ages 10 to 13. I am a Kindergarten teacher during the normal school year. Wish me luck, I feel a little crazy and nervous about it.

Day 1 went well so I think Day 2 will be fine.

When we embark on adventures so much goes on inside of us and the personal learning and growth that occurs alongside our adventures shapes the people we are today. Adventures don't have to be Indiana Jones-style. Little adventures count too--like camping with four kids four and under.

When was the last time you went on an adventure?

I had my camping adventure! But I love new experiences and now that I have young kids I crave them more often. I love to learn right along with them.

Have fun with the ESL. As you know, I've had a few stints with that and it is great fun. It's neat to learn about other people's cultures and to get to know how to communicate with people who hardly understand a word you say!

First I need to ask probably a retarded question but what is ESL? Second I wanted to wish you luck with teaching it & third I wanted to say I haven't taken any adventures lately but I'd like to take an adventure into the world of my own podcast show!
