One Sad Step Too Far

A few weeks ago there was a story here of a man who jumped off a balcony with his two children when his wife threatened to leave him. They were on a family vacation trying to mend their relationship when it happened.

The little boy died, however, his father and baby sister lived. Here's the story of what this father had to say in court....

One Step Too Far

He said he jumped because he couldn't stand the thought of life without his children. Well now he'll have to spend the rest of his life living with what he's done.

Unbelievable.

One thing - toward the end it says he was charged with....attempted suicide. Is that a crime there?

Stacie, suicide was considered a crime in England and Wales until 1961. Now, there's some loophole in the law something like if you attempt suicide and live it's illegal but if you die it isn't... I know that doesn't make any sense.

Also if your suicide attempt puts other at risk it's illegal, like driving into trafffic or jumping into traffic, things like that.

It's mainly a religious thing, the Church of Englad still denies certain burial rites to people who have comitted suicide.
