Prized Possessions

Having moved last Friday I could not believe the amount of stuff we have accumulated over the years. The interesting this is I'm actually not a pack rat, I like minimal living and am constantly giving things away to the charity shops or just getting rid of stuff.

However, there are certain prized possessions us moms cannot give away... all those hand print paintings, certain baby clothes that just remind us of our babies, old baby shoes, blankets, handmade works of art such as the clay bowls brought home from school or preschool. And of course the hundreds of old birthday, Christmas and other cards we just cannot let go off.

Needless to say this stuff accumulates but you know there are some things one just can't get rid off... It's nice and even sad at times to look back at these things and reflect on your life as a family and the changes you go through. For me this is probably the most emotional part of moving... looking at all those baby pictures made me weepy!

So our prized possessions have gone straight from one attic to another and are safe for now, waiting to be rediscovered during another move (not anytime soon please) or by our kids in the future.

It reminds of that movie Richie Rich where they had this place for all their treasures which instead of being money or jewels turned out to be old family memories.... definitely priceless.
