First Day of School!

Today was my little girl's first day of school. In the UK kids start school at 4 and preschool at 3. So my four year old just started reception year which is the equivalent of kindergarten in the states and Canada.

I have to say I think 4 is a little young... I would rather they start at 5 like in the states or 6 1/2 like they do in Germany. But at least they break them in slowly, she only goes half a day until October when she'll start going full days.

Anyways, she was very excited and had a nice time but was really, really tired and very emotional when she got out... she's still only little. My eyes got a little teary for a minute or so when I dropped her off but I didn't let her see me. She was very excited and I wanted her to see mommy excited for her too. All in all she had a good day.

It's very exciting to see her growing up and enjoying these new experiences. My older son also had a good first day. They were both so tired and went to bed early :-)

She is precious!! WOW. I have to agree that they grow up fast and here in the States some places start them early like that too. In DC you can attend what they call a Head Start Program at at 3 (which is usually a half day program), and then pre K at 4 - 5.

The time just flies by! I have an 18yo who just started her 2nd year of college and I can still remember her 1st day of Kindy!

HUGS to you all!

What a sweetie! Cute uniform. Is it private school or do all the kids have to wear uniforms?

My guy is dressed in the shorts and dinosaur shirt he's been wearing all summer. I'll be back with pics.

Aurelia, I'm beginning to realize that one day they're going to leave! It must be exciting but sad at the same time :(

Kelly, sleeping on the first day, LOL... lets see it.

I can't wait to see the pictures Alice. Here uniforms are mandatory so it's a state school but mandatory uniforms. Private schools have really posh uniforms with a little hat LOL.
