Weddings... How do Mama's do it?

I went to a wedding today. It was beautiful! I love the couple and both of their families. I sat there with a big grin on my face the whole time :)

Tonight at the reception, when the couple was ready to head out - the parents were hugging on them and people were snapping last minute pictures... and in that moment I thought 'This must be the hardest moment for their Moms!'

How do you let your babies walk away into LIFE?! LOL!

This couple entered marriage as virgins - Yes Virgins! I've thought so many times about how nervous they must be about the wedding night.

So these Mama's (and Papa's) hugged and squeezed and kissed and waved good by to their precious babies (first child to get married for both families) knowing that in a few short hours - they'll be discovering a new intimacy of making love for the first time.

It's sooo awesome and so overwhelming to think about! Someday my Sean will get married! Oh how I hope and pray that he'll save himself for his wife and not give one tiny bit of himself to anyone else before hand!

Oh man, my kids are still small - 6, 4, & almost 2 but just the thought of them growing up and getting married makes me sad. I know I will be extremely happy for them, but that's gotta be hard! I'm sure I'll cry through the whole thing!

I agree, I hope Sean continues to save himself for that special lady. Both my husband and I did (I think it would be hard if one partner did and the other didn't) and it was a very special thing...(that of course got better with some practice... LOL)

Wow - what a great wedding that must have been. That whole virgin thing is so, so cool!

I hope my kids wait too, but it's tought because I almost feel like I don't have the right to tell them to since I didn't. KWIM? Granted, their dad is my one and only, but still...

I had a number of friends who had different SOs in college than in high school. And in two cases, their guys were virgins and they weren't. You could tell they had really wished they had waited.

Sean knows I didn't wait... he can do the math and count the months between our wedding and his birthday. (Not to mention he knows that I had another baby a little more than two years before that.)

I've been pretty honest with him about my sex life - without going into details, he knows I regret treating sex like a recreational sport. (Well that may be stretching things... but I definitely didn't hold it in high regard as something to be saved for marriage.)

I think we can tell the truth and encourage our children to choose a better way than we did ourselves.
