The After Vacation Stress Out

The family just spent 5 days on a cruise and it was a much needed vacation for me. It was 5 days of mostly relaxation (sometimes it's hard to relax completely with a 3 and 5 year old!)...away from phones, email and life's other distractions. We had a really good time.

But why is it then we return from vacation, the stress is instantly higher than before we left on vacation? :-(

Here's why I'm stressed. In my absence, I realized that I didn't do some important bookkeeping that kept a couple people hanging financially. I also realized that I've just piled on too much in my life and I really don't want to get back to the usual grind.

If I give it a bit of perspective, the first thing about my bookkeeping error sucks, but I can correct that rather quickly. The second thing, about piling on too much in my life, has given me the opportunity to re-evaluate things and set a new path for myself.

So now, I'm going to go to bed and take some time to think to think in the morning.

I can completely relate. I had four days off a couple of weeks ago and it took me three days to recover from it - even though I thought I had delegated a LOT while I was gone.

I'm feeling that way and I didn't go on vacation!

I wonder if it's just something in the air?

In Fall I always get Fever... I want to head to the mountains wearing a really awesome cable knit sweater and sip hot cocoa and read books in front of a fireplace.

I want to go to bluegrass festivals in the Appalachian mountains and watch the kids play outside with rosy cheeks.

I want to smell like a campfire or a log cabin.

I can't get my brain in gear to work!

Reevaluating things can be great. Autumn symbolizes turning over a new leaf :)

I know exactly how you feel... there's always so much to do when you get back from vacation.

I think especially when we work from home it's difficult because we don't really just leave our work behind and we still have a similar role to the "stay at home mom" but we're actually running a business too.

It's a constant juggling act and it's very easy to take on too much. I know you're definitely one for having a good work/life balance so i'm sure you'll sort it out soon.

I'm not so good :-( but it's definitely my big priority right now, balancing my life out a little bit more.
