There is a story of a week old baby who was abandoned and left a cardboard box at a railway station on the Dutch-Belgian border. This baby has received a bunch of gifts, has had money deposited in a special baby bank account, has retailers giving 20% of certain purchases to him, and has a "large" number of candidates who want to adopt him. There's even been a report of someone in the village starting a collection to have birth cards printed up for the baby.
I don't think I've ever heard of an abandoned baby in the US being treated in such a way.
I think it's sweet and awesome that so many people think this baby, this life, is so precious.

It's a nice thing to hear. I wonder what makes mothers do this when you could go down the adoption route but who knows what her situation was or what she was thinking when she did it.
I'm still recovering about hearing about that baby who was microwaved, it makes me sick.
Yeah, you never know what goes on in these mother's heads. At least this one had the good sense not to harm the baby as many mothers, fearful of consequences, unfortunately do often.
What a heartwarming thing to see the way the community came together.
