Back on Weight Watchers

I'm celebrating my successful completion of one full week on Weight Watchers.

Well, 'celebrating' is a strong word. Let's just say that I'm relieved to have made it.

I tried Weight Watchers before and was doing okay when I just plain fell off the wagon and started to eat crap again. It doesn't take long to gain back what you've lost when you're eating pizza and grinders several times a week.

I realize it more and more as time goes by. High carb, high fat foods are my drug of choice.

My brother is an alcoholic. (So is my Mom and so was my Dad.) I didn't pick up the bottle, instead I picked up bread.

I have spent a lot of years pointing a chubby finger at my brother for his failure to kick a destructive habit.

And all the while three chubby fingers have been pointing back!

Yesterday and today I have been really crabby and emotional. Withdrawal from my comfort foods leaves we without my usual line of defense so I've got nothing to do but experience what I'm feeling and deal with it.

So be nice to me ok? LOL!

I believe food is definitely an addiction for some people. We all have our outlets.

For example when my husband is stressed he reaches for a glass of wine (it's very rare that he's stressed btw, so he's not a big drinker). When I get stressed I reach for comfort food and just eat and eat until I feel better.

These are habits and were "comforting" ourselves in some way.

I'm glad that you've made it a week Kelly, that's a long time and you should feel very proud of yourself.

Kelly your comments are very insightful. I have believed for a long time now that overweight is wearing our emotional clutter on the body. You're a spiritual person and God doesn't want us to be overweight... our bodies are temples for his service right? So he'll help you meet your goals :)
Love you.

Hey - I'm a Weight Watcher too. I'm in my second month. Just be the turtle, not the hare. Slow and steady, but I'm going to win this race!!
