A Day Out with the Kids

Last week the kids had a couple days off from school and we took advantage of one of them and went on an outing. For those of you who don't know me, I live in Hawaii, so we took a drive out to the North Shore of the island. There, we ate some Garlic Shrimp from a local shrimp truck and also got some Shaved Ice at a popular little shave ice store out there. It's a nice 45-minute drive to get out there during which we get to talk story with the kids and sing songs in the car. My husband and the kids love the shrimp, but me, I love shave ice! Unfortunately, there's no good shave ice store close to where we live, so the only time I eat it is when we go out to the North Shore.

Anyway, here's a picture from that day. It's always nice to have a relaxing, fun day with the kids where you have nothing else planned. Oh yeah, and we took one of our dogs along with us too.
