When was the last time you bought new Christmas decorations?

Do you buy new decorations each year?
The last time I bought Christmas decorations for our Christmas tree was last night - just a new tree skirt though - nothing fancy just a simple green and red tree skirt cause I couldn't find my old one. It's been 2 years since we got new Christmas ornaments. We finally decorated our tree last night - just me and my 8 year old. I think it looks "blah" - it's missing something, but I can't figure out what. It looks better at night though when the sparkly christmas lights are on - but during the day ... it looks boring!
This is how my tree looks like now - any suggestions so I can give it a make-over? What I should add? I really do not want to spend too much money - I would rather not have stringed popcorn too this year.
Do you decorate around the house? I have a wreath on my front door, lights on my roof, and an outdoor flashing Christmas tree in my front yard. I have a bunch of table top decorations and some garlands that I am thinking of adding later on this week. I have some holiday scented candles too - it feels so Christmasy - the only thing missing are the gifts under the tree - I haven't started my Christmas Shopping - I'm bad - huh! Money is tight this year - perhaps, I'll make most of our Christmas gifts too - I am thinking of baking goodies with my kids - most everyone of our family friends are getting baked goodies this year.

It's been 3 years since I've bought new ornaments, but each year we add a decoration to the collection of some sort.

This year it was outdoor decorations, blow up snowman, light up penguins and candy canes!

This is the first year I won't be purchasing Christmas decorations. We actually had too many.
