Do I Need An Intervention?

The other day I was on the phone with my sister. My husband was a work (he's a firefigther so he works a 24 hour shift).

My sister was telling me an important story about our mom.

Every 20 seconds I'm interrupting her to say stuff like didn't I tell you to stop jumping from the top bunk bed?

Or who's turning the lights off and on?

Or telling my 1 year old this is my phone call, I'll let you talk in a minute because he's screaming at the top of his lungs MINE!

My sister got frustrated with all the interrupts and said "You really need to call Supernanny - your house is out of control."

Her comment really made he take a step back and look at my situation. When my husband is home I find myself telling the boys to stop or I'm going to tell your daddy. So when he's not there, they get a little bit more rowdy. I don't think they're out of control - they're just extra rowdy.

I'm going to have to remove my "daddy crutch" and exercise my authority around here before I really do need a Supernanny intervention! Wish me luck.

Anyone else overcome a "daddy crutch"? If so, please share how you did it.

I have played the Daddy card before, but immediately recoil after and try something different. It's too easy a trap and isn't really fair to Daddy...but I understand your frustration!

I'd take an intervention from the Super Nanny any day...as long as she didn't have to broadcast it on TV. I love her!
