What's A Saucepan? Mom Will Know.

I love that my children are becoming independent adults, yet they know I'm still here if, and/or when they need me. My oldest two children lived together for several years, sharing chores expenses etc. Although, my daughter did the majority of the cooking. In September she moved to go away to school, so our son ate out mostly for a few months until his younger sister moved in with him.

Now, neither one of them has cooked much but he has a bit more experience than she does. Cooking is just not her thing. He's making dinner the other night when he calls me and says, "the recipes says to cook in a saucepan." The he asks, "What do I cook it in?" Apparently they can't agree on what a saucepan is, but Mom will know! I told him it's just another name for a pot. After we hung up I had I good chuckle. I guess we've never called a pot, a saucepan so it was a real puzzle. I heard dinner turned out well and that was the important thing.

I remember calling my Mom many times to ask her how to do something, for a recipe or advise. I knew Mom would know! For the last few years my children have been asking me similar things. We all goes through different phases in our lives, our parents are everything great and wonderful, then they aren't, and when we grow up we realize that they are indeed are wise and wonderful.

I recently had to answer this question for my husband! It'll be a while before the kids ask.

It is a strange word. Nobody uses it in regular conversion.
