I know a lot of parents procrastinate about putting together a will, but should something happen to us, what happens to our kids? Some parents might think they don't need a will because they think - well my spouse will take care of the kids and he/she is the beneficiary of my life insurance, pensions, etc. But what happens (and sorry for being morbid) if BOTH of you die at the same time? It gets really complicated then and if you haven't identified a guardian for your children, it's up to the courts to decide who will care for your children.
I was looking at the
ItsMyLife.com site after I was asked if I could review it. It's an interesting site where you can make personalized documents for:
- Last Will & Testament
- Living Will
- Health Power of Attorney
- Final Wishes Funeral Plans and more.
When you sign up, you get 12 full months to create your documents (but don't procrastinate!) in their online system. The system asks you questions, you answer them and it creates your documents for you and the information is added on a secure server.
I think it's a great concept, but of course, to ensure you're truly protected, you should consult the appropriate legal counsel. But seriously - If you have nothing written down in regards to a will right now, this is something every parents should get done now.

Hey Alice - very true. DH and I actually have a living trust set up. But we do need to update it again.
It's time for me and the hubby to update our wills too.
