How Did You Imagine Motherhood?
I’m curious to know how many moms are the type of mom they hoped they would be. Remember when you were a little girl and you thought about having kids and what you what kind of mom you would be? I do.
I wanted to be the mom who was waiting at the door with an after-school snack I had just pulled out of the oven when they came home each afternoon. The one who sat down and played with them in the evenings and spent the weekends journeying to some cool place like camping or a children’s museum that they would just love to pieces.
I wanted to be the mom who always had a spotless house and cooked homemade meals every evening. The beds were always made, the dishes always washed and everyone in the family could always be seen with a smile on our face. We loved life and enjoyed spending time together. I know you know what I’m talking about?
Ahhh the days of dreaming as a little girl. Things didn’t start out that way (it’s tough being a new mom with 2 demanding little ones), but slowly but surely that dream mom is coming around – even though I’m still not perfect and never expect to be. But that doesn’t mean I can’t be anything like the mom I dreamed about.
How about you, is your image of what you thought motherhood would be like the same as how it really happened? If so, do share with us that haven’t been so lucky, but want to make changes. If not, how are things different for you?

I do feel that I've finally obtain my vision of motherhood. I'm home and able to invest the time I truly wanted. Most important, my husband is thrilled that I'm happy to be home too.
Mom of a teenage son.
