Is There a Bedwetter in Your Home?

Everyone who has experienced bedwetting problems with their kids, please raise your hand. Yep, mine is up! ;)
As a mom who has experienced bedwetting problems, I know how frustrating it can be, especially when you don’t know what’s causing the problem and you have no idea how to fix it. We tried everything we could think of and some things helped, some made it worse, and others made no difference at all.
During this time I was not only frustrated, but felt helpless because it obviously bothered my son and he just wanted mommy to make it better and I couldn’t. That’s hard to see in your child’s eyes, let me tell you.
The fact of the matter is, many times we can’t stop it until our child’s body is ready. Their little bladders just haven’t matured enough yet allowing them to control it. There are times when a medical condition is causing the problem and steps will need to be taken to correct the problem, or at least control it, but for the majority of kids it’s just a matter of doing what you can to make the situation less stressful for them until their bodies can gain control.
Love and support are what they need to get through times like this. It’s one of those things that you have to keep reminding yourself that this too shall pass. You do the best you can with what you know, which for some parents, sadly is to discipline. That just doesn’t work, when it’s something the kid can’t control. How sad it makes me to think of a child who has wet his bed and mom or dad start yelling at them.
We’ve just released a new Mom’s Talk Guide to Stopping Your Child’s Bedwetting that is packed with ideas to help you curb your child’s bedwetting and keep his or her self-esteem up through the whole process. Click here to grab yours.
Have you experienced bedwetting with your kids? If so, what did you do to ease the tension and handle the situation?

Our son was such a deep sleeper he just wouldn't wake up in time. My husband and I got into a habit of waking and leading him to the bathroom at night. We also purchased a plastic bedsheet. Over time, he grew out of it.
