French Women Don't Get Fat
In a nutshell, the author recounts how she was able to stay thin while she lived in France, and how most of the women there do too, despite eating so called "forbidden" foods like chocolate, cheese, wine and carbs (gasp!). It was when she moved to the States that she started to pack on the pounds.
The author of French Women Don't Get Fat now has an online community that teaches her secrets. It has a community forum, recipes and diet plans, even the "unworkout" exercise techniques that French women practice. You get a nifty free apron for joining too. I heard Susun Weed, author of Wise Woman Herbal, use the phrase "No pleasure, no treasure" when referring to her diet. Maybe it's time we started enjoying our food again?

The funny thing is that a lot of the food that we think of as "guilty pleasures" are often natural foods (or comprised of natural foods) that are actually good for us.
Whenever someone asks why I workout I tell them cheeseburgers and fried food. I workout so I can have my "guilty pleasures" except I don't feel so guilty. We have to start enjoying food again and stop constantly counting calories.
I've read it. Many of the French eat like that, it's very true. They're also the first ones to speak up as a Country and say they don't recommend their people eat at McDonalds regularly... only very occassionally.
I can't wait to go to France in May, the food is fresh and healthy, the wine is awesome... have to practice my French though..
