Do You Sudoku?

Lately, I have been addicted to Sudoku. Have you ever tried it? I like it better than cross word puzzles. The funny thing is that my little boy was into it more than me - then, one day, I picked up his Sudoku book and thought ... hmmm.... I wonder if I can actually complete a page. Well, it took me forever and truthfully, I got frustrated - so I put it down - never completing that page.

One day - I saw my little boy working on a page. I noticed that he was concentrating and really thinking about it ... I asked ... "How is it going with that?" - He looked at me and said - "Mom, do you want to do one?" I replied by saying how I do not really know the technique and I admitted that I never completed the one page I started and you know ... he said ... "C'mon on Mom - I'll teach you!" So we sat on the couch and he explained the technique - apparently it is just "process of elimination - no 2 numbers are on the same row ever". Each row has 9 columns and 9 rows. Each row/column has 3 blocks - each block has 3 row/3 columns - each block then has 9 boxes and you use numbers 1-9 to fill in the boxes - just making sure never to repeat a number in the same column/row/block. For those who have never tried sudoku - my technique explanation may be confusing ... sorry! I tried to explain as best as I could.

Anyway - I am totally addicted now! I find myself working on my son's Sudoku book while I am in front of TV or while I am waiting in the car for the kids ... sometimes, I work on it in bed before I go to sleep. I find it fun and helps me use my brain cells really well! IF you are up to it, give it a try and let me know what you think!

I love sudoku! Sometimes we print out puzzles from the internet (one for each person) then we race! It's so fun.

Stacie - that sounds like fun - something we can do on Family Fun Night - thanks for sharing.

Tsoniki - I didn't realize they had those for younger kids. I think it's great to keep those kiddie brains working hard.
