Organic Produce Delivered to You
The magazine had a few sites and even told readers that one of them, Fresh Organics, they said delivered in British Columbia. My happiness level is rising at this point. You see, our province is huge and I wasn’t sure if they would deliver to my local area of it. Well, when I went to the actual site, I was heartbroken when I found out they don’t deliver to B.C. AT ALL.
It frustrates me that in Canada we are so behind the times when it comes to ordering anything online. The Fresh Organics site didn’t even let those they will deliver to actually order online completely. Their products are on their site, but you have to actually fax your orders in. Bummer! :-(
How about you, do you order organic or any foods online? How do you like it versus the sometimes dreaded grocery store trip with all the kids at once or driving miles across town in order to buy the healthier organic foods?

I've been searching for good sites online to buy whole foods/organic foods and can only find bulk items so I totally understand your frustration.
I know of a few. Amazon.com has a lot of bulk organics, everything from your staples like rice, beans, canned tomatoes, spices, etc.
And ShopNatural.com and NaturesGrocer.com
Oh, I love Organic - pretty well 80% of what I eat is organic.
When I had both sons at home it was harder to eat so much organic - but now I live 3 blocks from a full-block organic superstore (Capers) here in Vancouver, and I'm in heaven! (I planned it that way - I HAD to be in the midst of organic/vegetarian heaven here in Kitsilano)
No, I haven't tried to shop online for delivery. Alice, when I lived in the interior of British Columbia, there was a young family who grew organic and delivered organic produce weekly to my home (it was terrific, they also provided recipes).
I wonder if there is something like that in the Vancouver area? I bet there is, if that is what you are looking for.

We're members of a box scheme and every week we get a box of locally grown organic veg and another of organic fruit.. some of the fruits like bananas are organic but imported.
They also have the option to buy meat and dairy products and I tend to do that as well, depending on what specials they have and then we go to the supermarket for things like cereal, rice, etc.
I love the box scheme, I think it's excellent. The farm we get it from is only like 20 minutes away and some of the veg you get has been picked within the last 24 hours of you receiving it. It's awesome.
Mila we call that a CSA here (Community Supported Agriculture).
Some of them allow you to pay a monthly fee, for others it's yearly. But it still works out to be cheaper than the grocery store, and as you said it's local and fresh!
I've also been able to find individual farmers by searching around (signs on the side of the road, small farmer's markets, the local newspaper, just asking around, etc) in the community, as well as localharvest.org.
It's suprising how much stuff is available if you just search. I searched at localharvest for my zip code and found a ton of local organic farmers! It's a cool thing.
