I love chatting with my 9 year old boy - he is such a joy to talk to. Most times he'll say things that make me smile if not laugh. Some of our convesations seem like he really put quite a bit of thought into ... like ...
- Once, he asked me "How are orphans born? If they have no parents then, how are they born? I had to think a bit before I could explain it to him - I must admit when he asked me the first time - I got confused. But, after a while - he was able to understand ...
- When he was younger and just learning to read, I remember walking through an aisle in Target where they had the sanitary napkins and tampons and all of a sudden he says ..."Mom, why are they copying my name on all these stuff anyway?" I was confused again ... and I asked him, what he meant. He said - "Look - Maxi Pads , maxi Pads, Maxi Pads (As he points to different brands of Maxi Pads)". You see his name is Max - my teenage daughter was giggling sooooo hard when she heard - I was too. I had to expalin that they were not copying his name.
- A few years back, when I used to watch "ER" - I told the kids ... "OK, don't change the channel, there's a new ER tonight. My son got soooo excited and he says "A new ER? Is he the ER in Winnie the Pooh?"
- To this day, we two have a special "goodbye" before he leaves the house to walk to school - he is old enough to walk by himself now. I say "See you later Alligator!" and he says, "In a while crocodile!" Sometimes, when he is in a hurry and forgets, he yells it out ... sometimes, he'll run back home just to tell me .... it's our special way of saying "Bye - I love you!"

Those were cute! I especially love the Maxi Pad one! I cracked up when I read that so I can only imagine how hard you and your daughter must of been laughing being there in person when he said that! LOL!
