TV, Distracting Creamy Filling of Life
Since it's TV Turnoff Week I felt this was especially pertinent. A 1998 study showed that watching too much TV can triple our hunger for more possessions while reducing personal contentment.... by 5% for every hour a day spent watching.
The author David Niven says that "Television is the creamy filling that distracts us from the substance of our lives. Do not let television become the default organizer of your time."
Creamy filling.... lol! Kind of like the goo inside a Twinkie. :)

Now that I'm on this diet and can't eat fast food or sugars I now notice how much of that junk is advertised on the TV!
Maybe I never noticed before, because I could freely eat those items. It seems that just about every other commercial is food.
And I'm noticing the couple hours a day my son does watch TV he points to just about everything indicating he wants it.
Needless to say it's time to cut back the TV time. I am not one to say no TV ever, but our TV time does need to be cut back.
My husband is the worse. He "has" to have the TV on at all times when he is at home even just for "background noise". :roll eyes:
