Just Call Me Beautician Kelly
Little Babies A, B, C & D are doing great, so far the pregnancy has been healthy and without any big concerns. They have names picked out - a miracle in itself if you ask me.
My move to Lansing couldn't have come at a better time. That and my internet business flexibility has allowed me to spend a lot of time with her, helping out with her four year old daughter. I've really loved getting to know my great niece better and being there for her.
So yesterday she had a doctors appointment for the first steriods shot. This will help the babies lungs develop faster since it is very rare for quads to be carried more than 32 weeks, they need all the help they can get. The doc warned her that she'd feel some extra energy but not to be fooled, she was still to remain on bedrest. Even with that forwarning, I don't think she was prepared for how antsy she'd feel for a couple of days.
She's been talking about wanting to have her hair done before the babies are born but today she called her mom and begged her to make it happen. Since she can't go to a salon, it would have to be a home job and she wanted her mom to come out and do it. So her mom (my sis) calls me because she has to work and it's just not a possibility for her to go out there and play beauty parlor.
Today happened to be the day I set aside as a 'day off'. My schedule was clear, we only had plans to go see a movie. So after the movie I called over and got the scoop on what she wanted to do with her hair. "Light auburn with blond highlights please!"
One trip through Walgreens later, Sean and I took off for Portland with hair color and highlighter.
My niece was tickled pink and soon her hair was a fresh light auburn with nice blond highlights. A little primping seemed to go along way towards relieving her antsy-pansty feelings.
She has up to nine more weeks of bedrest to go... I wonder what else we can think of to pass the time and help her a bit less like an incubator. Got any ideas?

Kelly you are a woman of many trades ;-) Seems how you are now playing beautician you might as well give her a pedicure & a manicure too :-)
haha yes a manicure and pedicure would be appreciated i'm sure ;-)
Does she like movies or reading, maybe stock up on those two things. Wow quads..I can't even imagine.
Scrapbooking! Start her on a small album to document her pregnancy!
:-) Good for you Kelly being there for her, looks like it will go a long way for her.
You are such an awesome Gal!! Board games, books and movies ohh books on tape too. WOW How exciting for the entire family
What an awesome treat! You are such a sweetie for making her feel nice and pampered.
A pedi for sure. It's nice to have pretty toes when the rest of you is all swollen :)
I had two high risk pregnancies (early contractions both time, on IV pump with first and "take it easy", pill meds and partial bed rest for the second -from Aug to Dec).
It's not easy to be told you can't do anything - when you want to be lezy, that's one thing. But those added words of "you have to" really can make you stir crazy.
I was at least able to get out for a few minutes, but if I was on my feet too long, my body let me know it!
Helping her out, and just being there are a big help, especially with another little one at home.
Travel games, books, puzzle books, anything to keep her mind and hands active is a big help.
The pedicure is a great idea (even though I'm not big on doing my nails personally), not being able to even trim them while pregnant with one is hard enough!
