Let's talk about child bullies ;)

I had the pleasure of interviewing an adolescent counselor and violence prevention specialist on the show this week and we talked about child bullying and
cyber-bullying.

You can listen by visiting http://www.parentingmyteen.com and clicking on the 'Listen Now' Button.

I think what opened my eyes the most is that bullying doesn't just happen at school. Homeshooled children and any child for that matter can be bullied as they simply as they play outside, Heck even day care children can be bullied.

I have 3 children and they all have been bullied on more than one occasion and they all handle it differently.

--> My 7yo gets super sensitive, it ruins his entire day, he totally shuts down and he comes home in tears telling me about the "Mean Kid".

--> My 16yo nearly laughs it off, simply asks the bully who in the world they think they are! She has the mindset of - hey, I don't care what you say about me because I know WHO I am.

--> My 19yo has always been ready to roll up her sleeves and give the bully more than they expected (LOL)

So moms, have your children ever had a run in with bullies? Hey, have you known your own child to be a bully on occasion?

Even though the Internet Radio is titled "Parenting My Teen" this particular show is truly geared to ALL parents!

I'd love to year your comments!

I was bullied a lot in school (7th-9th grade). Unfortunately, I had to slap one of the guys to finally get them to leave me alone. Today, that would probably have gotten me in more trouble than them. It's sad that it seems to be a problem that never goes away :(
