Children Speaking 4 languages at 3 years old!

My niece spent the past year in Turkey teaching English as a Second Language in a private school. She is loving it and it was so fun to see all her photos and get to know each of the little ones she is teaching, when she was back in Canada for a month this summer. She is already back there getting ready for another year.

The children she teaches are 2 to 3 years old. At the start of the school year, she and the other teachers were changing diapers! And during the year, most of the children became potty-trained.

But this is not your average school. The children know at least 2 languages, and many know 3 or 4! One little boy my niece describes, knows Italian, Turkish, Japanese and English. Talk about gifted! The parents are often parents from 2 different countries, and are diplomats, Executives in large companies, etc.

Isn't it incredible how little ones can learn so much at such a young age? I'm just in awe.
