Never Have to Say I Wish I Had
One rather humorous (although not at the time) thing that falls into the first category happened to me this week. I was out walking with 2 of my dogs, my pom on a leash, Maggie, my "shaggy dog" was loose.
We have a walking trail behind our house in the forest. Maggie, went off the trail and started digging, so I let the pom go in with her to have a bit of fun. Bad idea!
Maggie was digging a nest of ground bees, and she made them very mad. By the time I figured out what had happened, I was already stung on my butt (ouch!) and my hand. I couldn't believe the bees swarming around or how fast it all happened.
We had to run all the way home, many of them followed us all the way, the pom had quite a few on her (she got stung in the butt too, and on her eye) Maggie, the instigator, of course, got no stings because she can run faster and has more fur, not fair!
Usually my 9 year old daughter comes with me, but that day she was with my MIL. Good thing, she would have totally freaked out and got stung too.
But it got me thinking about a time when my other daughter was about 1 or 2 and usually slept with me in the same spot every night.
One night she was sleeping at her Nana's (my MIL) and as it happened, I woke up in the morning, a few minutes later heard a crash, and a large painting that was hanging over the bed had fallen and landed right where she would have been sleeping. I still cringe to think what could have happened.
That is one of those things that just didn't occur to me until after. Of course I took it down and have never hung anything like that around the beds again.
Just thought I'd mention it in case you might have something similar hanging around your walls, or something that isn't entirely safe upon a second look etc. Maybe it wouldn't hurt to do a quick check through your house today.
I always say, better safe than sorry (and try not to say "I wish I had...")
