Smoking and Children

I just read this in our local newspaper (British Columbia, Canada):

"Drivers should be banned from smoking in cars if they have children as passengers, the Canadian Medical Association said yesterday."

Physicians voted in favor of a Canada-wide ban on smoking in vehicles while children are inside.

Now, this doesn't mean that the Canadian government will pass this, but this is certainly encouraging news!

Oh, and on a similar note -- my niece loves living in Turkey -- but I was surprised to hear from her that an extremely, extremely high percentage of people smoke there. So, talk about second-hand smoke!

I don't think I could handle that -- I am so accustomed to almost everywhere I go here in Vancouver being smoke-free, or very specific designated areas for smokers.

That would be awesome. I still get edgy if we're outside somewhere and people smoke near my kids.

I still remember the transition to fresh air in public places in Vancouver and I love it. The only problem is, if I ever enter a smoky environment, it's so overwhelming.

I get upset when people smoke near my kids too. I think it's a great idea to pass this law.

In the UK they just passed a new law where smoking is banned in any public places (indoors) but I still get upset when people smoke right next to you and pretty much blow the smoke in your face.
