Now, I Can Get in the Holiday Mood!

I know I'm not the first person to complain, but I can't believe how early people are getting into the holiday frenzy. For goodness sakes, it's only Dec. 1 NOW and the stores are ridiculously packed, everything is picked over and feels like it's TOO late to be getting ready for Christmas? What the heck is up with that?
I know in the United States, it's kind of a tradition that the holiday season begins with Thanksgiving. I can totally understand that.
Well in Canada, our Thanksgiving is in October and it has no relation to Christmas at all. So, why the heck were stores playing Christmas music on November 10th (well before the U.S. Thanksgiving, I might add!)? Aye...it just takes the magic out of it all for me.

But no matter, it's December 1st and I'm getting into the spirit now. Still, I remember as a kid, we'd still be a week or two away from putting up the tree.
So, when do you really get into it?

I remember when I was a kid, we would buy our Christmas tree on my sister's birthday, December 19th. Any earlier just didn't feel right. Then we would have a good week of holiday cheer and that would be the end of it.
I blame Toys R Us for the early Christmas rush this year. They started it by sending out the Big Toy Book on November 1st!
This year, I did give in to the pressure and we put up our tree on Friday night. Like you said, I felt like I was lagging behind the rest of the world!
