"Baby" for Big Kids?

Now that my oldest son (6) is reading, it's starting to bite me in the butt...thanks to A&W and The Gap. Here's what's been happening...

  • My son has a few pairs of size 5 pants that still fit that were gifts from family (I don't shop at The Gap). For some stupid reason they carry the label "Baby Gap". My son recently noticed this and asked me, "Why do I have baby pants?"
  • Then we went to A&W the other day and he wanted a cheeseburger, so I order him a kid's combo that comes with a yep...Baby Burger. My son again inquired, "Why do I have a baby burger?"
Now, my oldest is a pretty reasonable fellow and when I told him it's just what they call it and it's not really for babies...after all, babies don't wear size 5 pants or eat burgers...he was pretty reasonable about it. But when my 4 year old got wind of all this, you know what he did, "Ha ha...you have baby pants," and "You're eating a burger for babies."

Sigh.

Maybe my 4-year old could cut out the teasing or maybe these companies stop labeling things "baby" that are meant for big boys and girls.
