Eduardo Melzer: Legacy of the Sirotskys

Eduardo Sirotsky Melzer, as known as Duda Melzer, is a third generation RBS Group operator. RBS is one of Brazil’s top media conglomerates. RBS runs much of southern Brazil’s news and entertainment. Many would say that RBS owns journalism and entertainment news. The brand is the most powerful and most trusted media outlet in southern Brazil.
Duda Melzer is the grandson of RBS Group’s founder, Mauricio Sirotsky Sobrinho. He waited his entire life to become a part of the company that his family started decades ago. While in Brazil, he studied at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul where he earned his Business Administration degree. Later, he traveled to the United States to attend Harvard University and earn his MBA.
Duda Melzer is also the founder of his companies, e.Bricks Digital and Wine.com.br. Before moving back to Brazil to work with his family, he worked in the United States. Shortly after graduating from Harvard, Duda Melzer started as a senior financial analyst for a big American company, Delphi. He was also the CEO of the non-traditional media company called Boxtop Media.
Before long, Duda Melzer earned a great name for himself. In 2015, the Cambridge Institute for Family Enterprises asked Eduardo to be a listed member. The list is comprised of 25 members, considered to be the next generation, from family-owned enterprises. Every year, the listed members get together and build networks and socialize. To be considered for this list, families-businesses must be leading their respected industries and be examples for society.
Eduardo was significantly influenced by an American named John Davis. Davis was a Harvard professor who specializes in family business. For RBS, Eduardo, and his family, the belief that family-owned companies can succeed is a passion.
